Rocky Mountain National Park

Longs Peak
Prominently located in the front range, this is one of Rocky Mountain’s best challenges available. Like all hikes in Rocky Mountain National Park, beware of elevation. This fourteener comes in at 14,259 feet, so take your time on your way to the top! It takes the better part of the day to climb, so consider leaving at the crack of dawn.

Trail Ridge Road
There is more to do in Rocky Mountain than just hike. This is a great spot to take your travel van rental. At 39 miles long, this beautiful road will show you the best of Rocky Mountain in one drive. There are lots of photo opportunities available, so make sure to bring the cameras!

Emerald Lake
This three-mile out and back trail turns around at Emerald Lake. While Emerald Lake is beautiful, you’ll want to have Yaktrax or some sort of spike with you during the colder months as snow and ice accumulate. You’ll pass Nymph Lake and Dream Lake on the way, giving you three lakes for the price of one!

Aspenglen Campground
Located near the Fall River entrance, west of Estes Park is the Aspenglen Campground, nestled in the trees. Rocky Mountain’s summer-only campgrounds have one of the more expensive rates you’ll find at $30 per night but you can find secluded, quiet sites in a busy park.

Moraine Park Campground
*Closed for renovations in the summer of 2023
One of the (relatively) lower spots in the park at just over 8,000 feet, lies the Moraine Park Campground. It’s open year-round with full amenities in the summer. For your conversion van rental, you’ll have a dump station as well as potable water.

Glacier Basin Campground
If you want to get out of your travel van and spend the night in a tent, this is the place to do it. With 73 tent sites and zero electrical sites, you can sleep among the trees in comfort. $30 gets you a site for the night, with increasing rates for larger groups.
