You’ve been driving all day. Dusk is fast approaching. You pull into a quiet spot, make dinner, and call it a night. The van is parked. Everything feels settled. Then it hits.
You’ve been driving all day. Dusk is fast approaching. You pull into a quiet spot, make dinner, and call it a night. The van is parked. Everything feels settled. Then it hits.
No nearby facilities. No interest in moving the van. Definitely not heading out for a late night walk. That’s the moment an onboard toilet earns its keep.
Vanlife is about keeping things easy. You travel with flexibility, stop when it feels right, and don’t overthink the plan. Most of the time, bathroom logistics are a non issue. Campgrounds, state parks, national parks, gas stations, restaurants, and visitor centers usually have you covered. But every trip has a moment where timing, weather, or location don’t line up. When that happens, having a simple option inside the van makes the experience noticeably smoother.
That’s why we offer an optional cassette style composting toilet in our Biggie Campervan. It’s not meant to replace campground bathrooms. It’s there for late nights, early mornings, remote pull offs, and those moments when convenience matters.
We want your trip to feel easy, not fussy.
We expect most renters to use campground and park facilities whenever they are available. That is still the move.
The Boxio is here for the times when you cannot, or when convenience matters.
Think late nights, early mornings, remote pull offs, or closed restrooms.
After testing different options over the years, we landed on a simple composting style cassette toilet that works well for rental travel.
It checked the boxes that matter most for renters:
Most importantly, it adds peace of mind without adding complexity.
In plain terms, it is a self contained toilet system designed for small spaces like campervans.
The Boxio separates liquid and solid waste. That separation is the key to keeping smells down and making disposal easier.
One important detail renters appreciate, the Boxio is fully removable. You are not locked into using it inside the van. If you prefer more airflow or privacy, it can be set up just outside the van when conditions and locations allow.
It is there when you need it, flexible in how you use it, and easy to store away when you do not.
f you’d like a deeper look at the concept behind dry, composting style toilets, Boxio has a helpful overview that walks through the basics. You can read more about how this type of toilet works here: https://myboxio.com/pages/how-does-a-dry-toilet-work
This is the part people expect to be complicated. It is not.
We will walk you through the basics before you leave the lot, so you feel confident from day one.d with more confidence because they’re building on infrastructure that already works.
The toilet is available as an optional add on with our Biggie campervan for $75.
Each van comes stocked with a clean toilet and everything needed to use it properly:
When you rent the toilet, you are responsible for using it correctly and returning it empty and clean. All waste must be disposed of properly during your trip, and vans may not be returned with any liquid or solid waste remaining in the toilet.
If a van is returned with waste left in the toilet, a minimum $250 cleaning and service fee will be applied.
