What is Bureau of Land Management (BLM)?

Bureau of Land Management Camping

Inexpensive and remote camping opportunities are found here: Bureau of Land Management (BLM). In comparison with national conservation areas and developed campgrounds, BLMs are undeveloped public lands that offer disperse camping options for those seeking solitude. Offering a variety of RVing and camping sites, BLMs can be either fully-developed parks to legit boondocking and dry camping experiences.

What is BLM?

The Bureau of Land Management monitors more than 240 million acres and has over 400 campgrounds located in the United States. While most of these sites are located in the Western and Midwest United States, some camping lands are also available in more remote places.

BLM Camping 101

In terms of camping, BLM is primitive: they often include a picnic table, and a fire ring and may (or may not) offer restrooms or potable water sources. They are available on a first-come, first-served basis, which means you may not always find a spot when arriving late a night.

If the land does not have an attendant or ranger, then you will dispose of your camping fee (when applicable) in a collection box at the entrance of the site. Most of these campgrounds, though, charge no fees.

Finally, you’re able to do up to 14 days on most BLM land. Two weeks: that’s plenty of time for you to visit an area!
