Check out our first 5 Tips for Vanlifers before exploring this more in-depth part 2!

  1. Ask questions at pick-up
  2. Plan Your Activities
  3. Explore Local Spots
  4. Check the Weather
  5. Embrace the Freedom

1. Ask Questions at Pick-up

When it comes to renting a campervan, confidence is key! We’ve got you covered with an onboarding video filled with all the information you’ll need, from the water system to driving tips. However, don’t hesitate to ask questions when speaking with our location managers! No question is too small, and our team is here to ensure you are comfortable and confident for the journey ahead.

2. Plan Your Activities

Planning your activities is a great idea to guarantee an action-packed adventure with no dull moments. Explore the exciting options in the area you’re visiting. Often, there are opportunities to try something new or gain insider knowledge about your destination. This could be something as simple as a specific hike you want to try or something more extravagant like a horseback riding tour. You don’t want to miss out on a unique experience.

3. Explore Local Spots

While we adore exploring stunning national parks and the great outdoors, don’t forget to experience local charm by visiting nearby shops and restaurants. Support local mom-and-pop shops and savor a delicious meal. Plus, you might pick up some great tips from the locals! Check out our locations page for recommendations on some of our favorite spots.

4. Check the Weather

One common oversight is making assumptions about the weather. Though you may be visiting the desert, temperatures can significantly drop at night. You don’t want to be caught without a jacket if the weather changes. Always be prepared with layers, regardless of your destination. Weather can be unpredictable, and you don’t want to be caught without the proper apparel.

5. Embrace the Freedom

While planning is essential, going into your adventure with an open mindset is equally vital. Sometimes, things won’t go exactly as planned, or you want to change your schedule. Embrace the freedom of vanlife! You are never confined to a specific destination or schedule. Allow yourself to make spontaneous changes and see where the open road takes you. That’s the beauty of campervan travel- you have the freedom to explore wherever your heart desires. Pull off the highway to check out a quirky roadside attraction, add a new destination, or stay somewhere you love for an extra night. You get to decide how your adventure unfolds!

We hope these tips for first time vanlifers help you have the best adventure possible. Don’t forget to tag us in all your epic photos @nativecampervas!
