If you are starting your vanlife adventure out of Denver, we highly recommend you check out the most legendary music venue in the nation. Red Rocks Amphitheater has been a not-to-be-missed destination for most Music Artists in all Genres, since 1906. Located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, this venue has a clear view of the sparkling lights of Denver, while being nestled between beautiful rock formations. Camping on-site is prohibited but we have listed three campgrounds with full facilities near Red Rocks for you to check out.

Indian Paintbrush Campground

If convenience is your thing, look no further. Indian Paintbrush, located in Bear Creek Recreation Area, is under 10 minutes away from Red Rocks. And at $35/night, it’s going to be the cheapest option on this list. You can SUP at Bear Creek Lake and hang at the beach on Soda Lakes shore prior to heading over to Red Rocks for some tailgating and fun.

At 197 campsites, Chatfield State Park Campground is the most established campground on this list. With full-service amenities including drinking water, hot showers, flush toilets, and Wifi – you’ll never want to leave this place. Be sure to get in an afternoon hike in the beautiful foothills before heading over to Red Rocks Amphitheater for some good tunes and dancing.

Rent a Camper Van

Golden Gate Canyon State Park

Not the closest, but the prettiest. The location is worth the extra drive, as there are 35 miles of multi-use trails for hiking and biking. If you have the time, we highly recommend the 7-mile Mountain Lion Trail, otherwise sit back and enjoy the views. You’ll get to experience all of Colorado in a single hike. Just make sure you secure your ride to and from in case tailgating is involved prior to the show.

Things to Know:

  1. Tickets to Red Rocks shows sell out fast. AXS is the ticketing service provider. We highly recommend you secure tickets way in advance!
  2. Be prepared for a hike to get to your seats.
  3. Bring extra layers and a rain jacket. There is nothing worse than getting caught in a storm during your favorite song!
  4. Red Rocks sit at 6,450 ft. Drink lots of water and take things slow.
