Half Dome
Half Dome is not for the half-hearted. With nearly 5,000 feet of elevation over approximately 15 miles, this is a day hike in that it will take you all day to hike it. While one of the best hikes to check off the bucket list, make sure you’re fully prepared for your undertaking.

Yosemite Falls
While not the easiest of hikes, this is much friendlier to most hikers than Half Dome. With a thousand feet of elevation gained over two miles, this isn’t a hike for everyone, but most hikers can tackle it if they allow plenty of time for breaks as needed.

El Capitan
Another classic Yosemite hike that is not for the faint of heart, El Capitan is 15 miles long with 4,800 feet of elevation gain. Most hikers will be better served taking pictures of it, but seasoned adventurers will love the challenge.

Upper Pines

In Yosemite Valley, one of the most popular areas of the park, lies the upper Pines Campground. This is a popular spot so make sure to get a spot early and plan for some noise. If going during the busiest time of year, expect to be surrounded by other eager campers.

Tuolumne Meadows
Another great spot to camp, reservations typically get swallowed up in minutes. You can reserve these campsites up to five months in advance (and you may want to take the full five months in advance), so check early and often for spots at this beautiful site.

Bridalveil Creek Campground
Bridalveil Falls is a popular photo opportunity at Yosemite. If you want to be near the falls and in the heart of the park, the Bridalveil Creek Campground puts you in the perfect position. With 100 regular sites as well as a handful of group and horse camps, you’ll have a good chance at snagging a spot for your travel van rental.
